Energy Efficiency
Energy Efficiency: Identifying and implementing Energy Efficiency and Weatherization strategies significantly reduce buildings energy usage leading to lower utility bills. Five-Hawk, with its partner Eaton Corporation, begins the process with an energy audit. The energy audit helps assess how much energy is being used, how efficiently it is being used and provides the blueprint to develop cost effective measures to reduce consumption. There are two approaches one can take to improve building energy efficiency:
1. Retro-Commissioning: Referred to as a “Tune Up” of building systems – HVAC, Lighting, Lighting Controls and building automation adjustments. This approach typically reduces yearly energy costs between 5% to 20% and a Return on Investment (ROI) running between 6 months to 2 years
2. “Deep” Dive: This approach is more detailed and focuses on HVAC, Lighting, Lighting Control, Economizers, Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Indoor Air Quality, Electrical Distribution, building automation adjustments and major repairs. Higher yearly energy savings of between 25% to 40% can be achieved but the Return on Investment can take over 4 years as capital costs associated with improvements and retrofits increases.
