Solar Energy Information

Solar energy is currently produced by these three production methods:
Photovoltaic (PV): This process utilizes crystalline silicon-based material that converts sunlight directly into electricity.
Concentrated PV (CPV): This process utilizes acrylic lenses to concentrate the sunlight, in some instances up to 500 times its normal intensity, onto highly advanced PV cells which are very small and highly efficient.
Concentrated Solar Power (CSP): Sometimes referred to as Solar Thermal Power. This process utilizes lenses/mirrors to concentrate the sunlight to heat oil which is used to boil water producing steam that is used to run a steam turbine generating electricity.

TYPES OF SOLAR SYSTEMS:




Residential Solar Systems: These systems typically are for single family homes and generate between 1 kW and 10 kW of single-phase power.

Commercial Solar Systems: These systems typically are for commercial buildings like casinos administration, clinics, hospitals, etc and generate between 15 kW and 2 MW of three-phase power.

Utility-Scale Solar Systems: These systems are typically ground-mount and can generate in excess of 2 MW of three-phase power.
